The development beyond of the world Electronic music is no doubt –Colossal. Different genres groove like mushrooms beneath the storming rain. From Trance due Electropop, We have the greatest opportunity to behold this growing, before our wary own eyes! Italian Band ,”Syrian” –make they huge step through ,playing live before thousands of people at Moscow, producing their newest CD, the” Alien Nation”…Voyager the man responsible for the music of the band ,accepting our offer of giving an interview for the local press. He’s talking about the future sound of the band, plans dreams and etc

Guys…let us read him, shall we!? :)

E = Erik

S = Syrian

 E) Hello Syrian, how are you this days?

S

Everything fine, thanks you!

E) Your unique “futurepop” sound is truly fascinated –for example, I’m as DJ always using your music during playing set. Your newest album “Alien Nation” success is un questionable (5 place at the Italian charts according t September, 2007).what is the “magical formula”, behind the success?!

S

I don’t really think that our music could be labeled as “futurepop”. If you listen to any band who play futurepop you’ll notice that the sound is different. In the first two albums we made a fusion of electropop and eurodance I think. “Alien Nation” is simply electronic music, with many faces and some rock influences. Only “Supernova” could be tagged as “futurepop”, but for sure not the remaining songs.

E) Lately you have performed at “Tochka club”, Moscow.I heard it was amazing. Plenty of people have arrived and the atmosphere was electric. How was the filling to perform live for the Russian crowd? Are there serious differences between Brazilian and Russian shows you did?! Share with us

S

Yes, it was an amazing night. Russian crowd is crazy and Brazilian crowd too! They danced and screamed the song words during the show, and they were extremely nice and enthusiastic after the concert.

E) Funny question. There is a figure appearing upon the booklet of “KOSMONAUTA” (Infected Recordings 2005) Album. It seems to look like a character of popular “Transformer” epos…Perhaps you could to reveal a secret; why have you choose this “Robot” image to appear upon the booklet?

S

Yes, is a toy I own? I made that photo, and I thought it would have been fun using it as cover image. Especially considering that the graphic designer already used another toy for the “Enforcer EP” cover, the single released a few months before. We made a sort of “continuity”.

E) I know you guys met several years ago, as a members of Italian Alphaville fan club…Although being a fan of this great band my self, I had never know there is such an organization at Italy, now when I’m doing the calculations of you “electro pop” sound + the fascination for this 80’s band…I do understand the influence. Perhaps you could tell us about musical acts, inspired you lately?

S

The Italian Alphaville fan club was very small! Right now we’re composing the songs for the next album, and we’re really influenced by 80’s new wave (like OMD for example).

E) A year after band foundation (2002), you have sign with the American label “A Different Drum”. Through the last years you working closely with The German label “Infected Recordings” and Russian “Graviator Records”; please tell our readers about those labels.

S

I can say only good things about those labels… the owners are like friends and the always supported Syrian. I also meet them several times, except Todd from A Different Drum (although we toured the USA a few years ago). I hope to work with them for a long time!

E) What are you guys know about the Israeli Electronic scene?

S

If I’m not wrong A Different Drum has a band from Israel, Opium. This is the only band I know, I think…

E) I have notice, that Virtual Server and famous Russian DJ.Ram, made several remixes of your songs. Could you tell us about this relationship?

S

He did one remix for “Space Overdrive”, we used it in the single and also in the “Enforcer EP”, an European only release. Plus, Andy is the singer in one of the tracks of his solo project “Virtual Server”. The track is called “My Dimension”, and it is included in the bonus disc of the album “Setup”.

E) Your songs have been included into compilation of such a famous institutions as : Zillo & Orkus ,once you consider your self as a small band from Italy, whom main crowd is far away at the USA : ) do you believe the times have changed,?! The European scene is ready for the massive explosive from “Syrian”?

S

I’m just happy with what we have achieved now, I hope things will be even better in the future, but if they won’t, it’s fine with me. I’m not ambitious!

E) Thank you guys for this interview, any last words for the Israeli fans?

S
